Ja Morant x Nike collaboration sparkle by Ice Box Diamond Sneakers
During the NBA All-Star weekend, many brands showcase their latest basketball gear. Recently, Nike Basketball revealed the first two colorways of Ja Morant’s signature shoe, just two months after its debut. To celebrate this milestone, Nike Basketball and SNKRS collaborated to create an enormous pop-up structure called Mt. 12Skii, shaped like the Nike Ja 1 shoebox. The monument features an iced-out 12 chain and a Grizzly head, and a hyper-realistic block of ice sculpted into a replica of Morant outside the space. The pop-up has a cool museum with frozen artifact walls, encasing rims, drill cones, weight plates, and an ice luge delivering the “Midnight” and “Scratch” versions of the Ja 1.
Nike Ja 1 is Nike’s first signature shoe for Gen Z, designed to help them maximize their hangtime and reduce landing force through the forefoot’s lockdown panels. The shoe features personal handwritten notes throughout the upcoming colorways to recognize Morant’s friends, family, and community, known as Team Morant. The Nike Ja 1 “Scratch” honors the Grizzlies’ history with a turquoise, red, and brown color palette, reminiscent of the team’s earliest seasons in Vancouver. The shoe pays tribute to Morant’s aggressive and above-the-rim style of play with a claw scratch graphic.
