A. Lange & Söhne Unveils a Platinum Triple Split and Two New 1815 Up/Down Watches
A. Lange & Söhne chose the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace — running September 4–6, 2026 — to unveil its newest releases: the Triple Split back in platinum for the first time, and two smaller, blue-dialled versions of the 1815 Up/Down. All three are limited editions, and all three lean on complications the Glashütte manufacture has spent decades refining.
The Triple Split returns — now in platinum
The Triple Split is the watch that made Lange the first brand to build a rattrapante chronograph that can split and compare times beyond 60 minutes — tracking hours, minutes and seconds simultaneously between two events. For 2026 it appears in 950 platinum for the first time, in a 43.2mm case that runs 15.6mm thick, with a rhodié-coloured main dial, grey auxiliary dials and blued-steel rattrapante hands picked out with red accents.
Inside is the manually wound Calibre L132.1, 567 parts delivering a 55-hour reserve. It comes on a dark-brown, hand-stitched alligator strap with grey stitching and a platinum quick-release deployant buckle. Lange is making 100 pieces, each with an engraved edition number, priced on request.
1815 Up/Down: smaller case, first blue dial
Alongside the Triple Split, Lange introduced two new references of its 1815 Up/Down — in 18k white gold (ref. 244.028) and 18k pink gold (ref. 244.037) — each limited to 300 pieces. Both bring the model’s first blue dial: solid silver, coloured a deep blue, with argenté-toned subdials for a contrast the line hasn’t shown before.
The bigger change is size. At 37.5mm by 8.7mm, both watches step down from the standard 39mm 1815 Up/Down, moving closer to the collection’s original small-seconds proportions. The power-reserve display at 8 o’clock keeps its signature detail: a black segmented track that turns to a double-segmented red zone as the watch runs down toward empty.
Both run on the manually wound Calibre L051.2 — 245 parts, 29 jewels including 7 gold chatons, a German silver three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing — beating at 21,600 vph (3Hz) for a 72-hour reserve.
Why Hampton Court Palace
A. Lange & Söhne has sponsored the Concours of Elegance for years, using the UK classic-car show as a launch stage rather than a traditional trade fair. The pairing makes sense on paper: both crafts prize mechanical precision, hand finishing and the patience of restoration over mass production, and the Concours crowd overlaps heavily with serious watch collectors.
Pricing and availability
None of the three watches has a published retail price — all are listed as available on request through Lange boutiques and authorised retailers. With combined production capped at 500 pieces across all three references, expect boutique allocations to move quickly once official pricing lands.
